What did you get done this weekend?
I havent seen one of these in a while so here we go.
I changed the oil in the truck and cleaned up the driveway.

Not this weekend, but this week got the new SB 327 running- and it sounds great- and I also got the blazer tank in place, now to run lines and locate a filler door/ tube to complete the install. Hopefully I will get brake hoses this week and all I will have to get are calipers to finish the rolling chassis and then back to body work.

Finished up the lift install on the blazer some yard work and finally signed the paper's on my new house that I am having built and a garage is part of the deal so no more carport for me........

Drained and replace transfer case and gearbox oil. Boy!, transfer case oil was look like sludge!, it might have been original!!.

Got about 2/3 of my exhaust in, waiting till monday for a couple parts. Replaced spark plugs, did some tuning on the holley and reset timing.
Started replacing soffits on the house, took the kids swimming and fishing. Tonight I'm taking my boy to the races. HG

I got 1 sbc head ported and polished........man, I'll be glad when these heads are done........Now I know why machine shops charge so much.....Want to get this motor/trans together and back into the truck so bad......

Well lots.
Blasted the junky boxing paint off the shorty headders . Painted them with VHT flame proof paint flat black. I used stainless headder bolts to make them look a little better. Ran 3" dual manderal to Super 40's by flowmaster. Mounted my Autometer Water + Oil pressure gauges. Changed My water neck to a polished swivel neck so I could use the water port for my Painless Fan wiring switch. Installed the Lokar shift linkage. Installed my carb with 1" spacer and a new T.V cable. Finished the stainless brake lines. And just going to finish the Ebrake cables. Grounded the body/motor to the frame. Should have it running by next weekend.

Checked and increased the thrust bearing clearance of the engine I am building.

Waxed my burb, built a charity dog house for the local Humane Society, worked a little on software installs at work, and lounged in the air cond.
I'm still waiting on the 3"/4" drop and seat belts for the burb, it's on back order. Aaron

Wiring, wiring, wiring..
Took the plenum off to cover the fuel injection wires with split wiring loom along with all other wires in the engine compartment. Finished up engine compartment wiring for Vintage Air (still have to plumb it). Re-located battery wiring to passenger side. Tucked headlight harness below raidator so its hidden as much as possible. Did I mention I hate wiring?

Stop raining for half a day and got to mow the lawn. Cleaned the garage some. Burned some DVDs and watched about 10 episodes season 5 of the Sapranos.
@Alex Hayley Nice crank with lightning holes, cant tell if you knife edged the counter weights. Thats a big help if your going to spin the hell out of it. Wouldnt worry about the position of the diel indicater, that angle couldn't make more the .0005 of a diffrence. I like running about .007 to .010 of thrust clearnce. Some say its critical but I havent seen to many failures, except when they dont line up the thrust surfaces correctly.

I finally got my truck up to Wilkes-Barre . It made the 135mi trip without a hiccup. Learned a few things along the way though...fuel gauge is off and so is the speedo .

Between yesterday and today I pulled my old passenger door off, rebuilt the original hinges, then used them to hang the replacement door. The drain holes hand been welded over on both my replacement doors, so I made new ones on both doors. Cleaned and coated them as well as the inside of the doors and the door bottoms with eastwood. Also stripped the passenger side of the cab and painted the floor with eastwood., as welll as some spots on the driver's side. Spent the rest of today checking out and working on a replacement motor for my 30 year old snapper. Pretty productive overall.

Went to the VA picnic yesterday, got in a mountain bike ride on the trails before everyone got there, crashed when I got home. Worked a couple of OT hours today, did a complete detail on my mom's car, my folks are coming back from a european vacation tomorrow, and cleaning her car is my mothers day present since she wasn't here for mothers day. Also replaced the valve cover on the truck since it leaked like crazy going to the picnic yesterday.

i got about 75% done on my painless wiring and finally after 6 months since it was dynod,i fired it for the first time in the truck,WHAT A RUSH.got the headlight working,and the wipers work,still have alot of loose ends.

I fired up the new engine. I could not wait for the serpintine setup so I put the old on the new just to hear it run. Sounds GOOOOD. The old air compressor just won't mount up with the new dipstick. All of the new tapped holes in the block and heads are 7/16 and not 3/8 like the old so I had to open up the mounting brackets to get the alternator on. Then had to tackel the relay setup for the electric pump and all of the new 3/8 fuel lines. At about 4:00pm I run in the new engine for 20 minutes at 2500rpm. Really want to get on the road again, I feel like a caged animal without wheels. Once the first 500 miles are on it I can tow the bug down for a paint job. then we will have 4 out of 5 on the road and I can start on the GMC brakes and get that on the road.

my trucks immobile. powersteering is being installed. tough one, have had to do a number of modifications to get it all to fit. right now i'm at the point where the pulley is making contact with the fan so we have to get an adapter for it or buy the electric fans. thats all thats left and then i can put her back on the road again.

where to begin....friday night drove 2hrs each way to see 71c1068cad in Harrisburg as he had a part I needed for my seat frame (nice guy, first board member I met face to face) got home like 1 am.....Sat. delivered aforementioned part to upholster so he can finish my seat. Sun....got the front end sheetmetal lined up on my K10 and got the wiper valance back in place...also got the dyno mat installed in the cab.....Hope to have truck back to road worthy within the next two weeks....I will post pics when done...overall pretty productive I think....Paul
