sneak peak at my 74 c10 eng
well i figured id share a cheater shot of my retro 305 in my 74 c-10... im just in the finishing touches and my goal is to have it at the exhaust shop friday.. the lighting isnt that great but heree you fellas go... went form a 250/3tree to a 305 with a cast 4bbl GM intake and RQuad of a 327 (thanks Shuttermutt!!!), headers are summit, its all backed by a 2004r (83 caddillac w D5 convertor) and the fact 3.73's... i also added the power brakes off of a 74 cheyenne super and i still have to add the power steering off the same truck... but heres a sneak peak until i get it out of the garage...

thanks for the compliments... the headers are summit brand, manufactured by i think dynomax... 185 with the ceramic coating.. got the part number off this board... they fit very nicely with no plug or crossmember interference, highly recommended, best bang for the buck i could find... the valve covers or off a 1960 283, BUT with those covers you lose your PCV and you must use an intake with an oil fill, and i wanted to use a quad for milage (goal with this truck is 20 on the higheay) and needed an oil fill so i was stuck with 67-68 327.. i bought mine from shuttermut, was the original on his 68...lots of modifications and when im done im plannign on psoting a bunch of pics for anyone that wants to try this kind of thing themselves... well off to see if this thing is roadworthy so i can take an hour trip w/open headers to get exhaust put on tomorrow morning!!!!

Yes, I agree. The engine looks good. Really clean. The valve covers looks like the ones that were on a '64 Chevy I had. I like it.

What is the part number on the headers? That is something to keep filed away for future use.

update...
ill look for the part number, but its been on past posts on here too... just wait for the search function to rise from the dead again... well i went to take it for a run and i dont have enough pressure in the trans (120 lbs instead of 200 in forward gears and no shifty outta first gear) so i was told to drop the pan and valve body and make sure everything is free and try er again.. the trans didsit in a yard up here for a number of years so something may be stuck... i hope i can still get it to the exhaust shop tomorrow morn... pray for me!!! hahahahahhhahhaha well it really isnt that important... well im off to take a ATF shampoo and ill give everyone the update later this evening...

Looks sweet. Sounds like you are making some very useful upgrades like the power brakes, power steering, and of course the motor.

UPDATE!!! gotta get trans redone
yes it is the lighting.. and NOOOOOOO i didnt paint the engine pink, its good ol chevy orange ... but i do have some bad news, I used the 4th gear wiring kit from Bowtie (solenoid and 4th gear pressure switch) so i called them with pressures before i took it out and i was only getting about 125 lbs in all forward gears and i needed about 200+, so told me go for drive just a short distance... so i did and no shift outta first gear.. so to ake a long story short and after alot of phone calls, i dropped the pan and valve body to free up any stuck valves and wouldnt ya know lotsa grey material in the pan, nice coating of powder (had cleaned it, fluid flush and filter) all when i did the wiring swap .. so now im out looking to wither rebuild that one or buy one and get it shipped in... im pretty bummed but what ya gonna do.. im not a big fan of junkyard automatics anymore.. im 0 for 2 on them... soooooooooo.. i have a very reputable guy ive worked with in the past for rebuilds but wouldnt be able to get it back for 3 weeks (my vacationa nd his are back to back) and he wants 900 to do it... so im gonna check out some of the performance options to see what it would cast to get one shipped here on the pallet... weel see.. any suggestions other than bowtie????
