I saw this gem right near where I live. Can anybody give me info on C-60's? I know they obviously didn't have 2.5 ton axles, he obviously added those. But what about 4WD? I thought they all had those beefy dropped axles like big rigs. And big stake beds. Also, when I climbed into the bed to look in the cab, it looked really tight, as if the seat was pushed foward a whole lot. And lastly what kind of engine should this have, if he didn't swap it out. Diesel, right?

I'm gonna call and see what he's asking...

Did they actually come stock with a bed like that? I've been thinking about buying one with a flatbed and putting a bed like that on it. I'm pretty sure they came with big block gassers as well as diesel. I don't think there's a 4WD version...that's why it's called C 60. How many delivery trucks need 4WD?

You're right, they didn't come with beds like that. When I poked my head underneath I thought at first he was stacking frames to get the lift, but upon further inspection he just did it to get the bed up to height. I hope that makes sense to someone...

They are usually derrick diggers or have knucle booms or hi-lift buckets for tree or power line work. Some may have even been old fire trucks ( brush trucks for off road firefighting)

They are few and far between ( if that is a real one not a home conversion)

I would be interested in it myself

Looks like the guy stuck a C-60 front clip and some 2.5 ton axles on a K truck, or put a truck cab and bed and 4wd on a C-60 frame.

I can't think of any 4wd c-60's....I'm about 99.9% positive it's not factory.I'd say the frame has been shortened to fit the pickup bed also.

They came with either 350's or BB366, BB427's

How much?

If you can get the VIN number off the cab it can be broken down and it will give you a better idea what it started out as.

Looks like it has the small back window.... indicative its a C60 cab.

Most likely has a Clark 5-speed. Probably a divorced t-case too.

It does have the small back window. When I looked at it, I hopped in the bed to see in the cab and it did have a five speed, but I'm not sure if it has a divorced t-case. When I was walking around the passenger side and got up under to look, the t-case was around the end of the cab. I don't know how long the tranny is, but thinking back now it does seem pretty far away, maybe it is.

btw, do you know if that GMC is 4wd?

Find out the info since you`re local.You got us goin`now.These truck could be outfitted with front drive axles by a number of companies.Alot of utility companies use them.This one you found is obviously a toy built by someone for fun.I think it has 2 1/4t Rockwells from a GI-unit(6-lugs).Here`s one with NAPCO drivetrain:

these trucks came from the factory as 2wd trucks then were modified to 4wd trucks usu by the fireservice. most of these trucks today you find on farms as livestock trucks or grain trucks. they usually had a smallblock 350 in them with a 4 spd tranny they usu had a 2 1/2 ton axles under them. hope this helps Doc

Okay here's the scoop. First off he has an "interested party," however they haven't made contact since and he's putting it back out two days (Thursday). It is a C-60 Chevy truck obviously, but it's sitting on a 1958 deuce and a half frame. It has a carbed 305 SBC mated to a muncie 4 speed, and NP205 twin stick t-case. It has the stock deuce axles that have 6.72 gears. Suprisingly, bombing around town with all 7,000 lbs of truck he gets an alleged 12MPG. Cons are it tops out at 50MPH, so no highway crusingto a mud bog or something, and it needs to be registered as a commercial vehicle 10,001lbs or more (meaning you have to carry fire extinguisher and flares etc.). Has new u-joints and such because he blew them the first time round, but claims he did it right this time. Also has new firestone tires equivalent to about a 47" tire. Final thing is the $6K rock bottom price that he's firm at. A little to rich for my blood unfortunately. But consider that you're getting 2 2.5 ton rockwells, 4 new tires that he says are $1K a piece, nice trans, nice t-case, and a *****in' truck. So that's the story, I don't think I left anything out.

I give up on trying to find a cool street legal lifted truck in MA, I'm gonna get my CDL instead and have the biggest rig period. =P
