Ebfabman cab repair DVD set - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 72 cab that needs rockers and one cab corner. I am just learning to weld and was thinking about buying the 3 set dvd on cab repair. I would like to hear from any members that may have bought these DVDs to see if they recomend them.

I have the dvds and think they are great. For the money you cannot beat them.

I don't own a set, but GMan69 showed me his and the segment that I watched was VERY detailed. If you are a pro, it might seem a little too slow paced, but for a beginner (that would be me), they were perfect! STEP-BY-STEP. I would highly recommend them....plus, you are supporting a member & his habit....not some stranger you never heard of!!!

I have a set. Great detail, especially fitting the repair panels. They'll never fit perfect "out of the box", Earl never leads you to belive they will. You see him nip and tuck them till they fit perfect.

Thanks for the good words. Yes they are somewhat slow paced at times and real slow at others, but I wanted to make them for the beginner. Pretty hard to do with several dozen hours of unedited video. I'd have to say overall the cab repair videos have been a success. Many thanks to all.

I recommend them! They really give you the confidence to rip into your truck and the knowledge to get it back together. Great videos!

hey ebfabman,

have you everthought about setting up a paypal account and linking it to your site? This would enable people to send the funds quicky and enable you to send out your dvd's more quickly. Or selling them on e-bay would be another option.

I am one that just hates sending MO's in the mail. had too many go missing over the years.

Hey Mongo, hows it going for ya....Yes I have thought about setting up a paypal account, in fact early on I had one. At the time I thought the fees were high for the service provided. Guess I'm a little out of touch. I do need to upgrade the website. Got lots of new pics and other stuff to share. In the beginning I really wanted see if the videos had the juice to make it worth the investment. So additional fees to someone else was out of the question. Now I know they were worth the investment. At the time, my thinking was if they were successful on a small scale, later sell the rights to someone who wanted to market them. I've had some interest in this, but lately I have just been too busy to look into it further. I would like to make other repair videos of some other popular older vehicles and do the same thing. But thats another chapter somewhere. I have taken personal checks from established members, waited til they clear, then sent the videos. But this can be a little risky. As far as e-bay goes.......maybe...........

efabman's DVDs gave me good advice that have helped me in several ways, expecially the decisions on what to cut where on 67-72s. The cab corners portion is invaluable though I've yet to have that need. That said, they are high priced for what they are. I try to attribute that to the low volumes encountered vs. mass marketed movies, for instance. Not a complaint, just stating the reality.

They will not show you how to weld, though. Lincoln, Miller, and other welding machine sites have "how-to-weld" DVDs at reasonable prices. IIRC, you can buy such DVDs for just the type of welder you own (MIG, TIG, Arc stick, etc.)

Think you are comparing apples to oranges. You are not paying for entertainment but for KNOWLEDGE. I would be more inclined to compare this to a semester course down at the JC.

You're right, Chickenwing, but, unlike a film production, a self-shot video can't have much overhead, either. Still, I'm not complaining. I benefited from the videos. I just wish they were cheaper so I could feel better about recommending them to friends. I'd consider them as gifts if they were less than $50. Maybe I need to go thru making a video and marketing & selling it myself to have a more informed perspective.

LOL. I know it kinda chaps ya, but it prooves the point that a craftsman gets paid for what he knows not what he DOES. As a for example, if a plumber comes out to your house to fix a broken garbage disposal and all he does is reset the circuit breaker

on the motor... How much does he charge? The same $75 he would have charged if he was there an hour.

BTW, I do not have a set of efabmans vids. Yet. My comments are based on my personal beliefs and the observation that no one has complained about the content. Honestly, I do not have the skills to perform what yall are doing. Taking a few welding classes at the JC starting next month... When done with that I'll be buying the set.
