Cat-Back Exhaust kits, Worth the $?????
The connector pipe from cat to muffler has a leak, I was wondering if anyone has put a cat-back kit like a flowmaster or Gibson set on, and if they noticed any improvements, I saw flowmaster has one for my 91 blazer for about $230 (kinda steep for a connector pipe, muffler, and tailpipe). I want to keep this truck fairly stock, and still comply with emmission regs, but I'd like a bit more performance and sound from the Ol' pipe , but I don't really want to go the header's and dual exhaust modifications route.

why not run a dual setup? you can run a dual setup off of the cat converter and still have the emissions intact and get better performance and sound. a muffler shop could do this for you for about 125 to 175 bucks and thats using glasspacks.

Well, pinched for time, I decided to order flowmaster's force 2 cat back exhaust kit. So far, one of the best purchases for a vehicle I've ever made, I can't believe how well designed the system was. It took me a total of 30 minutes to remove the old exhast and install the new kit.
had the hangers welded on, even had the cutout for the little clip that GM put on the cats outlet pipe, I don't think you could screw up installing the kit. It came with a 50 series muffler, so it has a little rumble at idle, but won't blow your eardrums when under full throttle. I'll have to let you know if it performs any better, power or MPG. It did however set me back $200, but well worth it. Oh, by the way, 20 minutes of the time I spent working on this was me trying to get the old exhaust off.

I did a Dynomax kit (aluminized, mandrel bent) on my '86 GMC truck. I hoped for a lot better tone than I ended up with?
I also had some issues with the install. I did a hi-flow cat at the same time and there was a tab on the end of the "Y" pipe from the manifolds that the cat didn't account for. That was fun trying to cut that notch with my sawz-all? I have another project brewing right now that will need exhaust. Where did you get yours from? I got my Dynomax kit from Jegs but would be willing to try someone else.

I had a shop do a full dual exhaust from the manifolds back.I used Thrush stainless "hi-flow" design(honeycomb, not b/s factory pellets)and Flowmaster 2-chambers.This was in`93,I just had it redone.People were saying,"just dump the pellets and put a cat-back on it.It`ll pass".I like 1 pipe per cylinder head and I care about pollution. The Blazer has run so much better since I did the exhaust.Sounds good, gets better mileage, and makes less pollution. It wasn`t the cheapest route to take.Just the cats and mufflers cost about $300 from Summit.Let us know how yours is doing.
