There are several guys with LS1s in older GM trucks at LS1tech.com. I have one in my '61, but that's a little different then what you want to do (check the my sig link). I have lot's of info on LS1 swaps. Another option is a gen III 5.3 or 6.0. Good luck

Im putting in a 6.0 to match the 4l80-e i already put in, still researching the engine aspect but its not quite as simple as anyone will tell you, most of the issues im finding involve making the computer work without the entire electric system- everyone i talk to says you should reprogram the stock computer as opposed to, say, buying one from painless

I had mine flashed for the '61. PM wait4me on ls1tech. He's the best price and service around. Do a search for discussion of his work and you'll find nothing but good said. He can also modify your harness. I'm doing my own. Or you could always do something like this.

You can buy a 6.0 new from GM that is a direct replacement for the Escalade and it comes complete with wiring, comp and all. You just need a fuel pump from my understanding. I have an LT1 that I was going to do, but now technology has moved on at GM and the 6.0 as well LS1-LS7 are coming readily available new as crate engines fitted for retro drop in and drive options or in wrecked F bodies. Check out Scoggins Dickey Chevrolet on the web and check out their new crate motors (especially the Escalade 6.0!) Mike ![]() |
