Lookin at a '94

Alright, hope this is the right place to ask. Well we're lookin at a '94 push-button 4wd/4 door/4.3L vortec blazer that has 128k on it. Its in pretty good condition body wise. And most all of the records from first owner are there back to 513 miles, but not enuff info there(more dates recorded than mileage). Drove it around, brake pedal real stiff, and the transmission felt a lil sluggish. Not to the point where it felt like on our lumina right before the trans went out, but it did take a sec to accelerate past first. Don't know, haven't driven an A/T in a while.

Beyond that, my real concerns are some of the results I got when I searched for any recalls. I know cableguy had told me that the spiderwires break or crack apart. And I saw that alot of people complained about always replacin the egr valve, fuel pump goin out constantly, electrical messin up, and 4wd goin out. Can anyone relate to any of these or got some opinions?

my wife had a 95 LT we had problems with the heater core, had to be replaced 6x in a year needed another one when we traded it in on a 99 lt blazer. we also had to redo the radiator as it was overheating, had to replace the a/c high pressure switch. had to have the rear diff gasket replaced as it was leaking. Rear wiper motor quit working also we didnt fix it tho. other than that it ran great. I can tell you a tuneup is very expensive on these things we were going on vacation and I didnt have time to do it myself and it done at a very good shop here in town and it cost almost $500 I about sh*t. the tranny in ours felt a little sluggish to me also but we never had a prob with it was very sluggish on shifting when truck was cold until it warmed up. whats the asking price on the truck if I may ask?

I have heard of problems with the push button 4wd in the early blazers... usually the encoder motor which can be quite pricey.

The CPI is a good, quick motor but you gotta watch out for the typical CPI problems. The CPI Unit is located inside the upper intake plenum. It consists of the cpi which is connected (integrated) into the fuel pressure regulator. To see the system, you must take off the upper plenum. The unit is located in the center of the intake, with 6 poppet lines/nozzles branching off of it. There is 2 things that tend to break with this system over time. They are the Fuel pressure regulator (this is the most common thing that breaks... there is a diaphram inside the fuel pressure regulator that breaks and will leak gas into the plenum) and the Inlet/Return fuel lines (there are 2 fuel lines that connect to the cpi unit on the drivers side... they will weaken over time and can get pin size holes in them that will leak gas into the intake). Common systems of these failing are: Bad idle, hard to start, shaky revs, low gas mileage, and bad smell from the exhaust. If you have any of those problems it needs to be fixed ASAP because it can lead to engine fires.
