I am shocked!
About 4 months ago when I built the motor for my 68 I took the rotating assembly down to get balanced. They sent it out to their guys and when I got the assembly back they had lost my spirolocs to retain my wrist pins. I didnt find this out until the day I was assembling it and had planned on going on a long trip a few days later. It was a sunday and nothing else was open so I went down to that shop and they couldnt find my spirolocs but the guy at the counter gave me some internal snap rings that he assured me would do the trick. 4 months later I am dissassembling my motor to have the #8 cylinder wall sleeved from where the wrist pin ate the cylinder wall. The internal snap ring failed. So I take the block down to the machine shop where the machinist tells me to go back to the parts store and raise holy hell. I dropped off the block to get sleeved and went back to the parts store ( the two shops are affiliated ) and before I went in yelling like an idiot ( like I normally do ) I walked up and explained to the guy at the counter the situation. He asked me what I wanted out of it . I told him and within a minute they had agreed to eat the cost of the labor and sleeve on the block, to buy me a new piston, and to buy me new spirolocs. Its not everything but it keeps me from having to hit the old lady up for the credit cards. I was going to change a few things with the motor anyway like the cam and heads so I'm not out all that much.

Its always better to be calm, rational, and firm.
As the old saying goes I think something like "you get more flies with honey than vinegar" Good luck with your motor project............ |

THATS THE KIND OF STORY,( & THE KIND OF PEOPLE) MEMBERS LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT & DEAL WITH. HOW ABOUT POSTING THE NAME OF THE AUTO-PARTS STORE, SO YOU CAN GIVE CREDIT TO THE STAND-UP PARTIES? & MAYBE SEND SOME BUSINESS THEY'RE WAY?

Customer service is so important. Seems that gets forgotten to often these days. I bet that approach guarantees them that you will always deal with them in the future. And in reality, didn't cost them that much to do you right. Parts at cost and a bit of labor - pretty smart of them.

Never lose sight of "The golden rule". That's how we run our business, too. And it pays! Plus, I can sleep at night.

It's great that some buisnesses (People who run them) have ethics still. Customer Service is not just a place to make returns.
