I'm going to move it to the 73-87 forum since it's more of a project thread than a finished truck

Are those tires the G-Force T/A drag radials? If so what size? I was thinking of running those when I drive it to the track. Have you ever had any experience with those tires on anything else?

Nice Looking Pics by the way!

Thanks for any info

But yes those are BFG Drag Radials, 325/50 15". That's the only size BFG DR that has that slick patch in the center (trust me, I looked at the 255's, and the 275's, neither has the patch)

Yes they are BFG Drag Radials. They are 275x50x15's. They are still "brand new" and have been on and off the truck for the last 2 years while I was working on the truck. I believe that they do not make this particular "line\pattern" of the drag radial anymore. I believe they have moved to this g-Forceā„¢ T/A Drag Radial.

I have used them on a few rides and yes they do hook up nice. I have friends that have used them as well. You wouldn't want to drive on them all the time as they like to leave themselves laying all over the pavement when you leave!

Better check your facts first. These are 275x50x15's. Maybe they don't make it in the newer style g-Forceā„¢ T/A Drag Radial. but they did this one.

And btw>> Ow! You can get off my toes now

The paint is\will be House of Kolor Sunset pearl. The truck will have no chrome except for the headlight bezels, door handles, mirrors and bumpers. (and no it's not monochromatic)

It's got shaved side markers, gutters, tailgate chains (I have found something cool to replace this ) and stake pockets. It will hopefully have some sort of custom tail lights not the stock square jobbies (Ugly)

The truck has a flip kit in the rear w/2" blocks. Up front has dropped spindles and Springs. Not sure what I am going to do for a bed floor yet but i've got the buttonhead stainless bolts for what ever I do.

Interior is custom buckets and console. (Black) w/a fully painted interior cab.(Body color) Aluminum overlay instrument bezel.

Drivetrain is a 350 w/a 4sp Saginaw & Hurst shifter. Stans headers, flowmasters w/3" exhaust. Running 12 bolt w/3.08 gears.

Wheels are Centerline Hammers 15x10 and 15x8

Also has all new fuel and brake lines from inline tube Nice stuff!

Those are the outstanding items and details.

PS..Thanks for all the fine comments. It's been a long and drawn-out project for me as I also have a life, family and way too many other hobbies to contend with. But such is life and that's what I agreed to!

ahh ha, I apologize. I assume that's what happened, because when I was buying my BFG's at Summit, I had them bring out all three sizes, because I wanted the slick patch in the center (just because it looks so damn cool), and the only one that had it was the 325/50 15".

With a ~ 8" drop in the rear, you don't think you're gonna need a notch?

Anyway, it's looking good.
I say stick a milk crate on the frame and cruise it around the block.

It had 3" blocks in it when I got it w/the flip kit.(I thought a flip kit was 5" of drop total?) It barely ever hit the frame (cople of marks but nothing big or painful to the frame.) so I took out the 3"s and put in 2"s. The truck actually now has some rake to it as it did not before. Plenty of clearance for driving. I am not saying that it might not benefit from a notch but I am going to sell the truck when I am done to subsidize my other projects so ....?? We'll see when i get all the hardware on the truck where it sits. It's not like I can't do it when it's done. I could slap some bolt in's on there. Or I can play with different blocks or take em out. We'll see...

Thanks for the kudo's!

I was wandering if a muncie tranny would work better than the saginaw since you already have drag radials as far as ripping threw the gears? The truck is looking great.

The Saggy-Nut 4sp will do just fine. Under normal driving conditions there should be no issues with it. It's now got a very pretty Gloss Black outer shell. I just forgot to take pics of it before putting it back in the truck

On the other hand. If whomever buys the truck decides they need to hammer on it a little more than normal, they will be the responsible party for purchasing that $Muncie$ to replace the Saggy-Nut. Whether it be before or after catastrophic destruction , the choice is theirs.

The Saginaw is not a bad trans at all. It just can't take the power and abuse that a Muncie can.

Thanks for the reply.

I know that your suspension isn't loaded, but in the pic, it shows about 6" of clearance between the frame and axle even with a flip kit and lowering blocks. I thought it to be much less clearance. Maybe it's different leaf packs or rear hangers... But, you're right. You can always fine tuned things.

Anyway, good luck in your build-up. Post some progress pics, if you get a chance.
