Hey 67c10step did you put your rearend together yourself. I can do bodywork like nobodys business and weld and all sorts of things. I just want to learn how to build a rearend for my own knowledge. I want to talk to someone that can give me step by step procedures to build mine. I have a new 3.73 gear, new bearing kit, new auburn posi, I have it all to put together but want to put it together myself instead of paying to have it done.

Re: '67 project - rear end rebuilt and installed
I am a little lost when it comes to the ratio for the Rear gears. Everybody is telling me that I should find a rear with 2.73. My 68 use to be a police tow truck , so it was used to pull things. My truck will slow down if I let go of the gas going down a hill....lol...what parts do I need to fix this and where can I get it. The truck is 6 lugs. thx

He did everything above for $680. He charged me only his cost on all of the parts and about $200 labor. I also gave him my well used 3.73 12 bolt 6 lug rear end out of my '67 chassis from backing plate to backing plate. |
