Size of 81-87 cowl hinge pocket
Does anyone know what the dimensions are for the cowl hole required for hinge clearance on the 81-87 trucks? I looked at the post on the Colorado K5 site, but the those holes looke huge.
I don't want to take my truck apart to measure the hole. |

Are you talking about the slot to put the 81-87 hinges on a 73-80 truck?

I don't have a measurement with me, but if someone doesn't get one to you today, shoot me an email/pm and I will get you a pic with dimensions.

Here ya go. The hole is 4.5" long and 3/4" wide. From the firewall to the back portion is approx 6 5/16" and from the edge to the inside portion is 2 7/8"

Thank you very much. That picture helps a hole lot. Looking at some schematics, it looks like the headlight wiring between the 77 and 81-87 is very close. You don't suppose I could just plug the 81-87 headlight harness into the 77?

Probably would be easier to splice the new/different connectors to the ends of the wires.
