Broke My Headliner Bows! :(
Those things are brittle! At least mine were. They all looked perfectly good before pulling them. I started them from one end and was being very gentle with them, knowing they are not easy to find. Two of them just snapped about 1/3 from the end and one chipped

Yeah, when you find a new bow use the old headliner as a pattern, pick up some new headliner board at your local auto upholstery store. However pay close attention to how the old headliner is removed because you can only put it back the same way, you won't find the same board you have now but that's not all bad. By the way the color of my 67 suburban is steel pearl blue

What's up JW? Thanks for the advice. I just bought some new board yesterday at Home Depot to try out. It's solid white (no holes) and has a little bit of a texture almost like a leather grain. I've traced the pattern of one of the old boards and will try it out tommorow. Still not sure where to find the plastic bows or if a suitible sub is out there. I didn't pay attention to how the four pieces came out but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
You've got to post some pics of your 67 and give us some details. It looks great. |

Any other alternatives to the stock bows?

Re: Broke My Headliner Bows! :(
I just removed my entire headliner and all bows and all the metal strips that go along the outer edge. All the metal parts are perfect but the "chrome" plastic covers are all damaged and broken from removal. And the headliner itself was damaged to begin with.
Are the metal bows and outer edge metal worth anything or should I just toss it all out? I have no use for any of it anymore. Thanks from the new guy. Mark Pic from before I removed mine: ![]() |

Yeah, all my metal headliner hardware is good too. I think you should sell it or give it away on board if nothing else. I think the panel trucks can use it to upgrade to a headliner (not sure).
I pulled all the old board down and will be putting in some new stuff after I get all my sound deadener in. I still need to find suitable replacements for my plastic bows. What do you plan to do for a headliner? |
