New member - Houston,TX
Hello,
My name is Keith - from the NW Side of Houston (Cypress). Been lurking around the board for a few months now. Last weekend picked up my new toy from my father-in-law. Here are some pics of my new project. 67 cyl 3sp 80,000 miles and one owner. Real solid truck. Planning ECE disc brakes and 4/6 drop. Trying to decide if I will switch to 5 lug or stay with 6 lug. Any pros/cons of 5 vs 6 lug would be great. |

Re: New member - Houston,TX
Hello neighbor! Welcome to the forum. Looks like you got a nice solid truck fresh off the farm. The guys in the 67-72 forum might be able to offer the best advice on your 5 or 6 lug question.
A lot of guys are using a complete 73-87 truck crossmember to do the front conversion. It's a bolt in that gives you disc brakes and 5 lug at the same time.....

Re: New member - Houston,TX
Welcome to the board. In my opinion 5 lugs is better. It seems there is a wider variety of wheels (that look better) in 5 lug as opposed to 6 lug. Like I said this is only my opinion.

Re: New member - Houston,TX
Welcome from back east.Nice solid Stepside. What did it take to get it from your Father-in-law?
As far as 6vs5 lug goes. It`s true more choices in the 5-lug,especially classic styles. There are Torq Thrusts in 6-lug.I`d suggest look around at what`s out there, then decide. There is no advantage/disadvantage other than that.I think it`s kinda neat to have 6-lugs and discs.6-lug rallyes are abundant, then there`s the factory alloys.
