Full brake line replacement
Has anyone purhased a brake line kit from InlineTube.com? It looks like I can get a full kit for $155 + s/h. That seems like a very small price to pay for the pre-sized / bent lines . . . am I missing something?
My primary question, though, is about the process of replacing the lines. I have never done any brake work before, so I'll be experimenting my way through this project. It seems to me like it's just a matter of ripping the old out and snapping the new in . . is that about right? I don't have any brake modifications, so everything should fit without any trouble, right? Is this a project I should be able to handle (with basic tools and mechanical abilities??) Any estimates on amount of time invloved? What pitfalls should I watch out for? Thanks! |

I got a stainless brake line kit from LMC. It was really overpriced but I didn't know that at the time and it was 1" to short on one side.. no matter what I tried. On the other side it just barely fit.
When you do this you might as well make sure your master cylinder and proportioning valve are good and clean them up. Its really pretty easy. shouldnt be too bad just some pain in the A manuevering,and use flare nut wrenches on the fittings.Id also kind of compare old to new before i started ripping the old stuff out of there.Plan on bleeding the brakes,and keep that brake fluid outta yer eyes.i went to the dr. after working on a car,got rust in my eye,they had to put this dye and crap in it,and he said wear safety glasses especially around brakefluid can make you blind- not sure if true,but im extra care full-with it.I know it eats paint!!!!!also open the farthest wheel cylinder and drain it first to avoid some mess,id flush the system to,so you dont get old crap in the lines,might as well throw a new master cylinder on too!!

im gonna do all my own lines when i get this 67 on the table.but itll be a bare frame,but for $155 i might buy it already done-ive heard they ell quality product that fits.

I bought my s.s. prebent lines from inline tube and they are pretty easy to install. I also did the conversion from drum to disc and did not have any problems with the lines.

I have had the brake fluid in my eyes before...burns like h*ll, but I can still see.
That orange (sometimes blue) dye is pretty cool, I been in the E.R. about 4 times now for eye injuries. GOGGLES ARE A MUST!!!! ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. get a set from sears - craftsman
set of 3 for approx 20.00 (im guessing) dont get too cheap of ones, cause the wrench needs to fit the nuts well or it can still strip the nuts.
