Question emergency brake cable broken

I have a 1980 Gmc pickup with 117 wheelbase 6 cyl. auto. 6.5 ft bed.. i broke my intermediate park brake cable. It was rubbing on my cat converter, that's where it broke. Tried to get a new cable at chev dealer(discontinued).Tried a couple of parts stores they have cable at 106 inches for my truck, my old, presumably stretched cable is only 104 inches. Does anyone have any ideas on this. I gerry rigged this longer cable to fit for now, but it may well not pass Pa. state inspection, so I want to get it right.
