need help!!!

i have a chevy 350 78 block, my problem is i can't keep my distributor tight....
does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?? has anyone ever seen this?? i tried i think everything, new gasket, longer bolt, even tried a rubber oring... please help.....

you may have to drill out the hole to a larger diameter and run a tap through it to thread it. before trying that i would try loctite if you havent already. youd have to be very careful when drilling out that hole as to not get metal shaving inside your intake manifold

how long of bolt are u using u should only use a bolt that is about 1/2 long maybe the bolt u are trying is bottoming out or maybe a new clamp. but i could be wrong it has happened a time or to.

i've tried various bolts, replaced distributor, also changed hold down even tried locktite, any other suggestions....thanks

possibly take your existing hold down and bend the ears down so that it has more tension on the distributor base. this may need to be done in conjunction with the bigger threaded hole

well i tore my shop apart, to find an old hold down, longer in length,. used three oversized washers and a new oring.. problem i think is fixed, it seems a lot tighter than before.... anyway thanks for the replies....now
