Need some ideas...Pics Please if you got 'em

I’m looking to put some speakers in the rear corners of my cab (where the stock ones were). I’ve done a search and really haven’t come up with any ideas. I want to mount 6x9s. I’ve found some brackets that let you mount 6x9s to the stock 4x10 brackets, but I’d like to find a nicer and cleaner way. Anyone have any ideas?

Swap the stock 4X10 brackets left to right. Drill holes in the brackets to fit the 6X9 speakers, and mount them to the bracket in place of the 4X10s. Switching them will allow you enough room for the magnets to clear in the back. One of my friends, Jim13 here on the board, tried it and it worked well.

You can also do what I did and keep an eye out for an old set of corner brackets (photo below). They used to make them to sell in stereo shops years ago, but apparently don't make them any more.

When I redid my interior in Black, I bought a headliner repair kit for an SUV so I would have extra material when I was done. Since I didn't want to use speaker covers I bought a peice of pegboard because it already has holes in it and cut two peices for the corner to mount my 6x9's in and one larger peice to go across the back of the cab between the two corner peices. After test fitting the pegboard corners, I bolted the speakers onto the corner peices and covered them with headliner material. I then screwed them in place in the corners. When that was done I covered the larger center peice with headliner material to match the corners and glued the panel to the back wall with silicon adhesive. It's nothing great but it does clean up the area behind the seat real nice and hides the speakers. I still want to get vinyl material that matches my dash to cover the red between the panel and the back window.

In terms of SQ and imaging, there is no need for rear speakers in such a small space. A pair of components in kick panel enclosures and subs anywhere else will give you the best results.

I would normall agree, however I own a crew cab and the space isn't so small.

I'm going to put my 6x9"s in the doors, as they will sound much better, as stated before.

My personal preference, I would never cut doors just to fit speakers. Components in the kick panels would sound better, and no metal hacking required. Besides, doors aren't water proof...

But, that is just my opinion.

The PO put my speakers in the doors. The rear doors are fine, but the front speakers stick out so far that when you close the doors, they hit the floor hump. I'm going to take all the speakers out of the doors and put the fronts in the kickpannel and the rears in the corners.

Re: Need some ideas...Pics Please if you got 'em

My truck is a 4 speed work truck that needs to be more functional than fancy. Because the older pick-ups don't have any readily available places to hold drinks when driving, pushing a clutch and shifting, I already had installed folding cup holders at the lower front area of my doors. So, door speakers for me were not an option.
I also plan on buying or building some kind of organizer to stow my ratchet straps, bugees, ice scraper and tow strap behind the seat. Installing the rear speakers in the corners kept them out of the way and protected them at the same time. It was the only logical solution for me.

Re: Need some ideas...Pics Please if you got 'em

I had a stereo shop build and install mine for $40. They did a very good job, I was very pleased.

Everything else I did myself.

One more Quick pic

For the cab corners, dont go with some crazy huge woofer, there just plainly isnt enough air back there to do em any good. I stuffed some nice tweeters in mine, mounted in the pillar by the seatbelt. They sound great /w my 1 10 and 4"s in the kick panels.
