#s matching engine block
Do many of you have one? I'm sure a plenty of you do, but the rest of the engine is orig also. I pulled my numbers off the block a few weeks ago thinking it was a crate and was surprised to find out its a 1971 block made for a truck, almost 100% sure the block is orig to my blazer. i'm sure just about all of you know more about these kind of things then myself though, i'm no expert by any means. Would you consider this at all desireable or only if the ENTIRE truck was stock also?
Like i said i'm sure its not rare, we see pretty much stock-stock trucks with un-touched engines and engine comparments.... but thats not exactly what i'm talking about. My engine for sure doesnt look stock..., the heads arent orig., the intake manifold may not be, the carb isnt and the air cleaner isnt, it also has headers... but as said it appears the block is orig. equiptment... i was pretty surprised.. This is how i got the blazer minus the heads, those i added. I know i know, this post is worthless w/ out pics i'm sorry... thanks for the info Last edited by Medicanman71; 03-10-2006 at 10:00 PM. |

Re: #s matching engine block
I think if your truck is close enough to stock for a pure restoration, it adds value. If your truck has been modified a lot, I don't think it matters much. Either way, it definately speaks volumes about the durablity of these old trucks!

Re: #s matching engine block
I have a 67 with original 283 still in it and a 68 gold anniversary with the original un-rebuilt 307 (in storage). I've thought about rebuilding the orig 307 and putting it back in the 68 to have matching #s. Don't know if that will change the value much though. It will be about 90% stock, but I like the idea of having the original engine/trans whether it is worth more or not. The 68 now has a 355 out of a 71 blazer so its almost like having matching #s. I agree with bouncytruck, if it is mostly stock, its got to add some value.

Re: #s matching engine block
i would take that 307 and put a 327 crank and rods in it with some double hump heads and a tall intake with a mild cam and make those 350 think again lol the smaller the cubes the more lope and rumble you get
