A Lincoln Weld-Pack 3200HD. (The HD stands for Home Depot) It should read PS for Pawn Shop though. I got it for $200 plus a little tax. It came in pretty good condition with some .030 wire already installed. I bought 2 helmets, some gloves, replacement lenses, and still spent less than I would have if I bought it new. Already repaired the kid's trampoline and am looking forward to some rocker panel repairs on my '68.

Oh, I still need to get some gas. I used the wire w/o the gas. Pretty nasty welds. Also want to get some proper flux core...this really has opened up a new world of repair that I can do at home. I'll still leave the really complicated stuff to the pro's...maybe

Color me Jealous!! All the Pawn shops around here sell the used tools for about 10% off of the price of new.

a learning with my little 110V Lincoln. I sure wish I paid more attention to my dad when I was a teen (he was a metal fabricator & welder). I just keep zap'n away on my 70 and a few other things as I learn more about welding. My grinder is my friend when it comes to my welding so far. Great penatration, but elcrapo looks.

Yup, I learned pretty quick to keep my head out of those fumes...that stuff gets in your eyes, hair, lungs...nasty. Probably going to get some special filters from 3m before my next project.

Man that sounds like a really sweet deal, that is going to be the next big purchase that I buy. Oh and guess what I use for sheet metal. Used washer and driers that people throw out at the dump Talk about a great source for good sheet metal the you can weld on to learn all sorts of cool stuff.

Rick - For a new one, I've heard the Hobart Handler 135 is a pretty decent deal. Goes for just under $500.

Just picke up some .035 wire and some new tips as well as a big spool adapter. Since mine was from a Pawn Shop, it didn't come with gas fittings, so I have to locate those.

One thing to check into is most of the home depot type welders sell for alot less than the same model at a welding shop and that is because they do not have the regulator inside the unit to hook gas up to! They are not cheap, if memory serves correctly they were over $100 just for the parts to convert one over. We buy these for our job sites and just run flux core wire for doing light guage galv. metal and they work fine. Some even have the gas nipple on the back but their is nothing inside conected to it.

If you are doing body work (light sheet metal) you will want to run around a .023 wire and keep the .035 for 1/8" plate welding. You need to turn the welder up to high in order to properly use the .035 on sheet metal and that causes alot of metal warping. Just my .02

This one originally came with all the fittings for gas shielding. But, I'm sure the pawn shop seperated all that stuff out. I'm going to check Lincoln for some replacement parts. They do sell a conversion kit at HD for th Pak100. I need to see if it works for the 3200.

72 army,you should check Tractor Supply,Gebo's, or Northern Hydralics.I saw the Hobart (I beleive) in WW Grainger for a little over $400.00 .

Well I played around with it today. Put the .035 in it and did some tubing welds (exhaust pipe stuff) and then cranked up the heat to see what it would do on some 1/8" bed frame stock. That was fun. It penetrates 1/8" pretty good. I'm sure I could get it to blow through if I tried. The exhaust pipe is another story. It'll blow through that real quick.

Hey Kevin, I like your crew cab project. Hope I can weld like that one day. I need alot of practice though.

i need to get one. my stick welder has it's place but it tough to weld body panels with a stick although that's what i've used so far with good results, just real time consuming
