Re: Hurst Indy shift gm 3 speed

There are several style (at least 2 anyways I know of) of 3 speed manuals.
If your asking about taking one that was in one of our trucks and putting it in something else, the answer is depends on the type tranny the other vehicle has.

If you asking will the indy shifter work in our trucks 3 speeds, yes...It is a great upgrade in my opinion.

If you are getting the shifter used and they provide all the parts that came with it, it will work on several models of 3-speeds. I cannot remember now and since I sold mine, I don't have the directions to look at any longer. The actual shift handle is what is a little different in ours. A little taller to clear the bench seat versus an Indy shifter for a car.

Hope that helps some. I was not totlly sure what you were asking.

Re: Hurst Indy shift gm 3 speed

Ill be putting this in a 67 c-10. I used to have an inline 6 but replaced it with a 327 I did however keep the gm 3 speed with the 4 bolt side cover. The back of the box for the indy shift says it works on chevy trucks from like 1950 to 1980 but summit racing and even hursts own website dosnt show the indy working with my tranny? The mastershift has an installation kit that does specifically work on it but the price for that entire set up is 4 times what the indy would cost me.

I put the exact set up in my 67 fleet 292 with a bench seat. No problems it was a very easy install.

Mechdawg, I bought a Daytona, on e-bay from a place called sevensaturdays.com for $40 delivered. These shifters are made by MR. Gasket out of Cleveland Ohio. Mr. Gasket makes the Hurst shifter as well. The Daytona shifter came with the boot and ring also, the Hurst does not. Funny thing is, I live very close to Summit and Mr. Gasket. The shifter I bought was delivered from California, for half the price I was quoted locally.I installed mine with the tranny out of the truck, took my time and braced the shifter well, and made sure everything was straight and true. It works flawlessly. This shifter is plenty fast for me. Bryan.
