New car
Now that I finally got all the billet done on in the interior on my truck, it is going to sit for a while. I drive at least 40 miles a day and 8mpg is killing me. So, I bought a '02 VW GTI VR6. A 200hp V6 in a little 2 door hatch is WAY fun. 6 speed manual, heated leather seats, automatic wipers, 6 CD changer. I'm not spoiled. I do now have 2 cars to spend money on. My truck needs a new suspension bad. Hopefuly this summer I'll scrounge enough to lower it too. The new car needs an alarm and such first. Quick pic of the car:

Re: New car
Congrats. Enjoy it, it'll make a great commuter.
While I love my Chevy my job is 90 miles away, even with the 20-25 MPG the Olds Diesel gets that's still allot of fuel. My Commuter is a 2003 VW Jetta TDI Wagon. I average 45-50 MPG with it and it can really rack up the miles. I bought it new in Nov of 2002 and I just turned 150K on it. Still runs like new. I have run it on straight vegtable oil for 60,000 miles. and expeimented with all kinds of blends of vegoil and kerosene and it never complains. VW does make a good car, this is my second one, I had a 1998 jetta TDI That I bought new and traded it in on the current one with 187K because the turbo was going.. My own fault though, I neglected to change the oil and filter for 80,000 miles... > I have since learned my lesson, now it's every 10K like the VW recommends

Re: New car
i just broke down and bought me a new DD also. paid a thousand dollars for it, a 92 honda civic hatchback, gets over 40mpg and looks really nice especially with the new wheels i scored cheap on craigslist. of course, i won't be making payments on mind
seriously though, i also have an RSX which also has 200 horsepower and a 6spd tranny in it, a 2 door hatchback like your VW and it probably weighs about the same - freaking BLAST to drive. i can't wait till i can do an engine swap on the honda and upgrade to a b18c engine.

Re: New car
I almost bought one of those waaaay back on 1999. Instead I bought a Prelude then a 00 Civic hatch. I average 30-30 miles per gallon on a 60 miles a day commute. Enjoy it, you'll love it.

We bought a '01 Jetta VR6 wagon in September. Great car except the tranny has some weird tendencies and every time we bring it in to have it looked at it doesn't do it? I thought in our owners manual it said oil changes at every 6,000? Is it different for deisel?

Re: New car
I just saw an R32 VR6 Golf on the freeway this morning. It was damn nice looking. Looked like it may have been lowered a bit and had some deep rear wheels.
