Thermostatic Air Cleaner Help!!

I need to reinstall the thermostatic air cleaner to pass smog. It a 76 K15 with the 350. I have the original air cleaner back on but for the life of me cant figure out how the vaccuum hoses go. Can someone tell me how they are routed. This is the last time I have to do this. I need to know where on the quadrajet they hook up to.

Any Help would be super.

Re: Thermostatic Air Cleaner Help!!

All the ones I've seen have it hooked to the vacuum port that sticks strait out the right(passenger) side of the carb, near the choke linkage. Hope that helps.

I know this isn't from a 76, it's a 77. You can look at AutoZone.com

I hope this helps.

Re: Thermostatic Air Cleaner Help!!

Are you hooking it all back up because you are trying to pass emmisions?
I have an 80 that would not pass and It was a fresh rebuild I didn't like the look of all that crap anyways. So I got antique plates on it No more emmisions!

Re: Thermostatic Air Cleaner Help!!

Yes Im doing it to pass smog. It is a Federal Smog so all it needs is its PCV and a working Thermostatic air cleaner. I have 3 vaccuum ports on the air cleaner. Thanks for all the help but I dont have EGR's or canisters.

Re: Thermostatic Air Cleaner Help!!

Tony, on my 78 3/4 ton (which should be similar to your 76) there is only 2 hoses on the air cleaner. One goes from the right side port on the carb to the thermostatic valve in the air cleaner, then the other goes from the valve to the diaphram that controls the flap.

Re: Thermostatic Air Cleaner Help!!

Have you tried leaning out your carb for emissions testing then putting it back to normal after you get it inspected?

Re: Thermostatic Air Cleaner Help!!

I have a 75 California truck, but if it's any help...
There should be a vacuum "tee" on the thermostat housing. One house goes to a vacuum port on the carb, the other goes to the air cleaner, the air cleaner goes out to the little butterfly valve down on the passenger side manifold. I'll see if I can't dig up a picture, or if you could post one, I could decipher it.
