wire for the gas sending unit?
I wonder why they made the fuse box so the wire for the sending unit
is a plug in type....?not fused.... Is there to be a in line fuse running between the tank and fuse box? Cheers

probably because the line never left the cabin. why bother with a fuse if you're not passing something through sheet metal? you could argue that it does go under the door sills, but ... yeah.

Suburbans and blazers are the same way,but the wire does leave the cabin

I think it only has around 3 volts going to the sender.

A real low amperage fuse would be a good idea. 1.5A or so? Never know how its gonna get pinched or abraded. A short, no matter what the voltage, is not a good idea.

It may be due to the additional resistance in the line created by adding more connections or terminals. This will cause the gauge to display an even more incorrect reading than they already do. It would worsen with age as the connections corrode or get dirty.

You do not need a fuse on this line as it is only a ground wire. It goes to the tank sending unit which is a resistor to ground (works just like the dimmer on your light switch). The pink wire that feeds the other side of gauge is a fused wire. The plug in on fuse box is just a handy place to unplug the wire to tank.
