86 has a computer controlled spark has your truck been modified from that if so check that area.

Re: no spark

Like 86 mentioned it has the CCS (BS) so it will have a plug in on the back passenger side of the distributor and the spark control box (ECU) will be under the dash in the gove box area. It can casue a drop in spark if unplugged. Now if you changed the distributor did you change the coil as well? A bad coil will cause both dizzys to do the same thing. Also the 3 wire plug in on the drivers side of the distributor that attaches to the cap can have loose terminals inside breaking contact. Pull the dust cover off the cap and take a test light and check/probe around where that plug in attaches with the dust cover off, you do do this from the top. You should have 12V power on the far ends the middle will be ground, make sure the ground strap is in there too since your there.

Re: no spark

Read the paert at the bottom of this page about removing the ESC:

http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/drivetrain/escrepl.htm

I just finished a conversation a few minutes ago with somone on another board. Removing the ESC functionality from his distributor fixed a similar problem on his. Just a thought...

Thanks, thats actually very interesting and usefull! I usually just do a reversion conversion and chop the plug. I dident know you could solder the two wires togather and keep the IGN module alive but now that I think about it the b and g wires are a bridge for the one circut. Now Ive got some spare modules for future HEI builds!
