Itt: We talk about rear cross sills
looking for some input and pics if possible of rear sill repair.
I was considering buying this: http://www.carolinaclassictrucks.com...ody-parts.html or this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/71-72...QQcmdZViewItem My rear sill and rear bed is badly rusted out...if it was just the top I'd probably go with a flat patch section but the sides are getting really thin. I got a rear bed patch panel to cut and fit over the rear sill once I settle on a way to repair it, and for the amount I can buy a rear sill (as linked above) I'd just as soon save my time rather than sectioning in some U-shaped channel as I suggested in a post a few days ago. So, is the pickup rear sill identical to the blazer rear sill, or is some modification needed? Anybody actually graft in a full rear sill? Pics? Advice? |

May wanna talk to Wes at www.classicheartbeat.com or Les at www.gmcpauls.com. Both are vendors that support the board and seem to be pretty knowledgeable on these trucks.

Well from what I can tell neither one is for a 72, or at least so I have
been told here, IIRC the 72's had 2 raised sections like the pic below for the curved frame rails, no inner bumper brackets on a 72 only

Otherwise will one of those two items just graft in place with some welding and grinding? |
