Fuel pump or what?

I have learned a lot in the past year about my truck, but when it comes to engine internals, I am a total nube.

I replaced the original fuel pump on my truck a couple of months ago with an AutoZone $15 lifetime warranty pump. Now I am wondering if it might be bad. I checked the oil this morning and it was way past full on the dipistick. It was really thin and gas smelling, so I think I need another pump.

Also, I recently cleaned out a bunk of gunk and rust from the fuel tank, so maybe I am just tearing them up because of that.

Any ideas on what else could it be? Is there a bigger obvious problem that I am overlooking?

The truck was running fine last week. The oil did not have but a hundred miles or so on it.

Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.
