Coil spring question ?
I replaced the front coil springs on my 1977 1/2 ton . It is way too high in the front now . I thought about buying some 1 inch drop springs to get the height I want . Has anyone replaced their springs and do you have pics /part numbers ? I do not like the heavy duty springs I have . I also need to replace the rear leaf spring packs . Where is the best place to get new ones ? My truck had the lean to the passenger side that they get with only one gas tank . I would like it to sit the same from side to side and have a little rake to the front . Thanks . Frank

Re: Coil spring question ?
Like Jon said, many experience the same issue when replacing the front coils. I guess over time the stock spring becomes a drop coil spring. If you went with a HD spring, maybe a non-HD would give you the height that you're after. I haven't heard of anyone using 1" drop springs on a stock spindle. I'm not sure if it would give you too much rake?
Eaton Springs (http://www.eatonsprings.com)is a reputable spring manufacturer. I believe they carry springs for these trucks. Maybe, give them a call and see what they suggest.

Hey f.monroe. Here is a link to the coils on our website. They are on sale until the end of May. Good luck with your project.

Re: Coil spring question ?
I replaced my springs with the HD (store did not tell me they were HD) versions and it looked like a 4X4. The same store was able to order me the regular ones, which dropped it down some. I have the MOOG part numbers at home, and they were the same as a few other brands used. PM me if you want the part number.

Re: Coil spring question ?
Thanks for the info . I bought another pair but this time I bought the lighter duty springs . I hope it comes down between 1 and 2 inches . I got them at Autozone for less than $80 and they were in stock . I hope to get them in this weekend . I will also try to get the back level . I might even try to post some pics . Frank

Hey f.monroe,
Please include some pics of that "lean" you're talking about. I'd like to see if it's the same thing I've got. Thanks alot! Jim |

Re: Coil spring question ?
The lean is mostly gone now since I added the new coils . It was about 1 inch lower on the passenger side , front and rear. I am sure it is because my truck is a single tank truck and did not have a sway bar from the factory . I dont have any pics of it before . Frank
