OK- More pics of the front suspension. I call it a Dropmember. This is the prototype. There is a 72 blazer on the board that has one of the production dropmembers. The post is in the blazer section under Low72. It actually started life as a K series (4WD). The member allows the 2WD frame to lay on the ground with 2" drop spindle, it will lay frame with the stock 2WD spindle on a 4WD chassis. The hood hinges are stock and functional, noe springs due to tire clearance. It's been converted to use gas charged struts like on a late model. No inner fenders... yet, they will be next. I have a couple of good ideas, just need to figure out how I want to execute!

I someday will have my worksmanship about a mile away from you.
for now IM still a hack. doin nova subframe swap and sectioning stock crossmembers and such.

IM am cofused about your hood hinges tho
if you are lacking inner fenders exactly what have you got your hood hinges bolted to?

It's hard to explain without a pic... i made some tubular struts that bolt to the firewall where the inner fenders stock mounting location is, they run forward to the core support and are flanged and bolted there also. (Life is easier with a CNC Plasma cutter... trust me!) There are mounting plates on the struts that the stock hinges bolt to, and the tubes also have mounts for the gas charged struts.
I will get some more pics ASAP. We should be seeing the truck again this month.

A buddy of mine is starting his own fab shop
I will have free reign of his eqipment , the water jets and plasma cutter etc ..

im friggin stoked.

My next big purchase is either a tig or a plasma cutter
with the right equipment its sooo much easier and cleaner and the final product shows every bit of it.

It all started like everybody else I'm sure. Always loved old cars and trucks and dreamed about having a nice one someday. I had a 57 Chevy truck in high school that seemed to drain my bank account and consumed my spare time. I enjoyed the stuff and I thought my stuff turned out all right in the end (after re-doing everything ten times and spending ten times the money!) I had a bit of an in also. My dad had an automotive repair shop so I had access to some space and tools. I turned wrenches for him full-time for a few years and did the fab stuff on the side while I finished up my degree (Business Administration), got married and started a family. The fun stuff grew into a full-time gig about a year ago, and we haven't looked back since!

porterbuilt, you do absolutely awesome work. your welds on that member were some of the cleanest i have ever seen. i was just wondering if you have a website for your shop that shows your previous projects. i would really like to take a look at them, i think your work is amazing.
