what would be a good drop with 275/40/20 tires
I own an 87 chevy that I am looking to drop, I am getting interior redone on the 19th and for now want to drop my truck, I want it low enough to cover the top of the tire or close to that look. Also any sites I could get the parts to drop my truck would also be great , thanks

It depends on how you do it. You could install it in phases. Bag it first with a tank and schrader valves and add the compressor and solenoid valves later.

With that wheel size, you probably need to go with at least a 4/6 drop. In front, you could go with DJM 3" drop spindles or Western Chassis 2 1/2" drop spindles. To get the extra drop in front, use a drop spring. Or, better yet, use some convoluted bags instead. For this, you can get the bags, plates, cups and accessories at Suicide Doors. If you go with schrader valves, you wouldn't need a compressor or tank right away. For about $500, you would have the front done with drop spindles and bags. While you at it, you could replace any worn front bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc for about another $100. (I have a couple of pdf's explaining the ball joint replacement and a few other tips.) In the rear, you could do a flip kit for less than $50. If you're up to it, you could do the job yourself and save some $$. (Maybe, use the extra money to round out the air components for the front.) BTW, you may or may not need to notch the rear. A 6" drop in the rear in reaching the max for minimum axle to frame clearance.
