Is this bad?
I think I figured out why the Tahoe has been riding a little poorly lately. I'll get some duct tape on it this weekend and top her off with some 10w-40 and all should be well again

Re: Is this bad?
Looks like those shock extenders are doing their job. That shock is definitely extended...

Re: Is this bad?
Looks like the shock extender is on backwards. The tab on top should be on the front side of the "factory" shock mount,... and bolted. Maybe this is why the shock broke.

Re: Is this bad?
XXL,... is it possible you got shock extenders for the '99-'06 truck? I would look for some Belltech '88-'98 shock extender. That should fix your problem. Maybe some one could post a picture of the difference. Just an idea.

XXL- Check this page- DJM
Looks to me like you got brackets for a rear sway bar truck: #SE1128S, when you need a #SE1128. -Chris

Re: Is this bad?
XXL,... I thought the extenders were to retain the "correct" shock angle,... as well as allowing the use of stock shocks. I know on the '99-up trucks you have to run the extender AND a shorter shock. This makes the shock compress,... and not pivot on the top shock bolt.

Re: Is this bad?
Fix-ed... bought some Rancho RS9000 adjustables (#991119). They're 11" compressed and 18" extended... just right for the ~ 8" drop on the rear of my Tahoe. First, I got rid of those nasty shock extensions. Next, I pressed the crossbar out of the stock shock's top mount. With a little WD-40 and a lot of pressure, I slid it into the urethane top mount on the Rancho. For the bottom, I pressed in a metal sleeve, and mounted the shock. It needed a washer on either side on the bottom to take up the slack in the stock mount on the axle. A little elbow grease and voila... took it for a quick trip around the block and the ride feels wundervoll. Shocks were instruction-less, so I don't know whether I've got them set on soft or firm... I just cranked the adjustment all the way clockwise.
Yeah.
