what can we still get from gm?
seen alot of threads recently that say...you can still get those from gm.
hood hinges, license plate holders, fender wells, later model side markers that fit nicely, etc etc etc. would those in the know consider posting what parts they know you can still get from gm with a part number please. even a part that might not be originally for our trucks but make a nice edition....like those side markers for instance....thanks. |

Re: what can we still get from gm?
I'd say the easiest thing to do is call you local GM parts man...or in my case, the parts gal...and she's pretty cute to boot

Re: what can we still get from gm?
i guess i was looking to have a thread that we could look at and see...oh hey look we can still get inner fenders direct from the dealer and there is the part number. instead of calling up the gm guys (or gals) and having to have them look up a number and then just telling us they dont carry that anymore. ive been told by some of the gm dealers that you cant get such and such part anymore and then read on here that yes you can.

Re: what can we still get from gm?
CG- I started this thread awhile ago in hopes members would check their receipts from the dealer and post actual part numbers from various parts they bought. If you have any post them here and get this moving again.:http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...t=part+numbers

I was thinking about your thread Jim! There's quite a few items you can still get, but as JC mentioned above, if you don't know the part number the people at the dealer won't even bother looking it up, just try asking for a part for something older than '78 and they're gonna say they don't carry that anymore

Re: what can we still get from gm?
I just recently got a windshield washer container w/ cap and also a rubber diapgham for the brake cylinder. The parts person has to look the numbers up in an old catalog to get numbers then goes online to get current numbers. Not all dealers apparently saved these old catalogs... It pays to get to know your parts guy....

Re: what can we still get from gm?
I called my local dealer on the inner fenders with the part numbers, he wanted $375.00 for them. Needless to say, he still has them...

Re: what can we still get from gm?
If you ever run across a dealer parts book, buy it. They show up on Ebay from time to time. The 'assembly manual' actually has very few part numbers in it.

Re: what can we still get from gm?
I have ordered several things in the last few months, i will see if i can get you some part numbers after i get off work tonight. If i had an assembly manual, i could find out all the parts that are available. Just cross referance the part numbers in the book with gmpartsdirect.com and it will tell you if they are still available. Found many parts for my Camaro's this way.

Re: what can we still get from gm?
I was told that GM could not supply any body panels for 67-72 anymore. Its not in their inventory. I inquired about a ramhorn manifold once, was quoted $400+ Cdn. EACH!

Re: what can we still get from gm?
I was told by several vendors at the charlotte auto fair that you can still get stepside tailgates from GM (they were the same from 55-87) but they come with a hefty price tag.... $350-400! Or so I've been told! I was happy with my $120 repop!
