Look what I found in my garage!! A long lost friend!!
Finally got my shop cleaned out enough that I could uncover the chassis that has been hidden the the other garage for over a year and a half (!!) and roll it up to my shop. I can't tell you how good it feels to see it sitting the my shop again!! I was so excited about it that I started installing the new brake lines last night. Couldn't wait, had to do something! Had to wipe all of the kitten prints off too.
Maybe I can drive it this year after all........ Truck porn:

Re: Look what I found in my garage!! A long lost friend!!
As it sits, it has 2.5" drop spindles with stock springs up front, and 3" drop springs and 1" blocks in back.
That will be changing soon. I will be adding 1.5" drop springs in front, and 6" drop springs in back and will remove the blocks. Thanks for the props!!

looks good! but I'm curious. It appears that the rearend is off centered. It doesnt center up with the driveshaft loop in the frame. Maybe its the way the photo was taken.

Re: Look what I found in my garage!! A long lost friend!!
Hmm, must just be the pic. Axle backing plate to frame is equal on both sides.... at least until I get the body and bed on. Then I will probably need to adjust the panhard bar a little.

Re: Look what I found in my garage!! A long lost friend!!
Nice frame! Did you do the exhaust holes through the crossmember yourself? If so, what size of pipe and can you take some closer pics? Thanks,
Rob

Here are some pics from when I shortened the frame. The pipe I am holding in the 2nd pic is 2.25", but I will be using 2.5":

Re: Look what I found in my garage!! A long lost friend!!
No problem! After you mentioned it, I stared at the pics for a bit, and it was looking like it was off to the right a tad. But all is well!

Re: Look what I found in my garage!! A long lost friend!!
Joe67 - Here are some pics of what I have so far. I still need to get the rear rubber hose, and since I ordered the wrong front-to-back line that runs along the frame (I ordered a 1-piece kit, should have been a 2-piece kit...needs to be longer), I will need to make a second piece to lengthen it.
In order: 1) Left front (taken front the front of the x-member) 2) Right front (taken front the front of the x-member) 3) Front lines behind the crossmember 4) Left rear 5) Right rear

Really nice - did you sand blast frame? What kind of paint did you use?

Re: Look what I found in my garage!! A long lost friend!!
Stepside67 - I did sandblast it, then painted i with DuPont chassis black.
Dirtball - AWESOME!!!! I will have everything gathered up by Saturday at the latest. Chris mentioned that he wanted to come up here, but couldn't on Monday or Tuesday. So we can either make it Saturday afternoon, or Wednesday after work. I'll let you knwo for sure by Friday. BTW, we can ALWAYS make that GMC shorter!

Looks like I need the coupler that conects the frame hardline to the front line, I would think that was included with my kit as well... |

Here is how my rear lines join. Inline gave me that coupler, but no bracket? Is this too high? It does not go above that frame brace, but it just seems high to me. Maybe I can tweak the lines some to bring it down? |

Re: Look what I found in my garage!! A long lost friend!!
It is way too high, looks like one or both lines may be to long?? I had some time before I had to leave, so here are some pics. I hope they help:
1) Hole in crossmember right behind the rearend, 2) Stock bracket that bolts to the diff cover, 3) Hose & bracket in it proper location, 4) End of hose that goes through the hole in the crossmember.

Re: Look what I found in my garage!! A long lost friend!!
Perfect pics, thanks!
I'll take these pics to Inline after work today. What year is your chassis? That setup looks like 1972 specs? My frame/rear end is 72, I don't think it really matters from 67-72 does it?

Re: Look what I found in my garage!! A long lost friend!!
It is a 72 frame. I think the 71-72's are different than the 67-70 setups. At least, this setup is very much different than my original 68 frame.
