Re: The old rustbucket is getting a new cab!
Well here's a couple. I took the first one by a friends house on a side road. Those are clearance lights from a '78 dually that I installed on the old cab. They look awesome, but I don't think I'll put 'em on the other cab now, Dad said he'd kick my a$$ if I did.

Re: The old rustbucket is getting a new cab!
How wide are those rear wheels? Do you have a closer pic of them...they look great!
BTW...that is probably a fair price for the cab work depending upon what they had to do. It sounds like Dad is having as much fun as you with this project!

Re: The old rustbucket is getting a new cab!
Frenchblue72, Yeah those cab lights look awesome on there, I'll probably put 'em on the new cab. I got 'em installed right the first time, but drilling those big holes for the rubber bases kinda worried me. I have a NOS set of lenses and I'm buying a factory harness anyway so they'll be on there sometime.
stllookin, those are the 16.5x9.75 steel wheels. The wheels are 12" wide, and the bead sealing area is 9.75". The wheel on the driver side is a factory type wheel, the one you can see is a custom made wheel by Titan but they look similar. Yeah Dad's having fun with the truck. He didn't know how to take the vent windows and door glass out so he learned something from me. ![]() mblackburnjr, you hit the nail on the head. All our trucks have loud dual exhausts so there was a lot of noise on that road. ![]()

Re: The old rustbucket is getting a new cab!
Well it's gonna start tomorrow. We're still putting new door glass channels, etc on the other doors so it's gonna be a little longer. There's new front/rear windshield weather strip, new door felts, the new glass run channels, and we gotta finish gluing the door weatherstrip. Then I gotta take everything off of the old cab too, and I mean everything. From the dome light to the heater box, including the underdash wiring. I'm gonna put the old seat back in the Suburban where it came from since I kept the original from the truck. The original custom vinyl/cloth scroll pattern seat is pretty trashed, but it has a brand new green saddleblanket seat cover on it.

Re: The old rustbucket is getting a new cab!
Here's some more pics, thanks Frenchblue72 for re-sizing 'em!
Pic 1-taken at my Grandparent's house. That's the new cab next to the truck. All the rust you see on it is surface rust, no rust holes anywhere. It was originally yellow with a medium olive top, and had a tan interior with a tan column and dark olive wheel. Not sure if the steering wheel was factory though. Pic 2- I think that was taken about 1 or 2 years ago, still had the 15x8 wagon wheels on it(still have 'em) and the gas tank from a 1972 truck was in it till I got one from a 1970 a couple weeks later. Pic 3- floor and rocker area. I should've pulled the floormat back and pulled off the weatherstrip to show the rust damage. It's not as bad as the pass. side though. If you look close you can see the sheetmetal where the floor meets the kickpanel and you can see the hole in the floor that didn't get covered. Pic 4- the inside! i had tools and crap on the seat from building a receiver hitch for the bumper that day. you can kind of see the 10" speaker on the center of the seat covered by the shop rag and the little Pioneer tweeter sitting on the dash pad. that was my sound system. ![]() Pic 5- the dash. yeah it's blurry but hell you can see what it is! that's a horn button next to the right turn indicator, it's now cable-tied to the steering column. the horn won't work right 'cause of that huge crack in the steering wheel. ![]()

Re: The old rustbucket is getting a new cab!
Here's a pic of a correct hubcap on the 16.5x9.75 wheel. I have a whole set of 5 of 'em, not gonna use 'em though. Somebody stole the hubcaps off of a truck around here before so I ain't taking a chance.
