correct ralley wheel color

Not to sound tooo anal,,butt(lol) I have a purchased a set of 15x8 rally wheels for my 76' cheyenne from the bone yard. I am trying to keep the exterior pretty much stock/ original looking. my question is,,,is there a correct color for these trucks ralley wheels??? I do know the early gm car ralley wheels actually have a green tint to them if they are correct,,,,i didn't know if these truck wheels are the same or are they plain silver?????

Re: correct ralley wheel color

I think the trucks had the same color. I used aluminum paint, and turned out good. If you use silver, it looks like that cheap chrome paint, and is too bright and shiny. Had another set done in silver slate, that turned out good too. Any of the resto places usually have the correct color in a rattle can.

I heard Duplicolor Silver Wheel Paint looks correct. I have yet to use it but, both my local Discount Auto Parts and Autozone Stock it. There is also a Clear Coat. Not sure if it's needed on Steel Wheels but, might help them look more factory.

Re: correct ralley wheel color

If you have a spray gun available, you could use what I did for my rally's. I used Case IH Tractor silver. It actually has the green tint, but looks really good. I had my rims bead blasted, painted the backs and insides Case Black. So far, it has held up really well. You really don't notice the green tint that much one the trim rims and center caps are on.
