I've got a '62 c-10 with a 235 and 3 on the tree. I came across a free, running 292 and want to put that in. Will my current transmission bolt up to it, or do I need to get a different one. Thanks in advance.

Your transmission should work OK, but the problem will be the engine mounts and the bell housing. The 235 uses a front engine mount while the 292 uses side mounts with the right hand mount kicked forward of the left a few inches. The 235 has a hydraulic clutch with the slave cylinder and arm on the right hand side, and this bellhousing will not fit the 292. A 63-66 bellhousing will fit the 292 and should bolt to your crossmember, but these have mechanical clutch linkage with the arm sticking out the left side of the housing. I know the swap can and has been done many times, but I just wanted to point out the main differences.

Thanks for the info 60-66 Nut. I was all ready aware of the mount situation and the new motor will come with the mounts so that's taken care of. I was afraid the hydraulic clutch/slave cylinder would be a problem. Can it be setup to work on the left side with a 63-66 bell housing? Has any body dealt with this before?

There is no place to bolt the slave cyl on the 63'up bellhousing, but I'm sure it would not be a big deal to make a bracket to bolt it to. Then of course the line would have to be re-routed also, but that should not be too hard either. The ideal setup would be to find a V8 bellhousing for a 60-62, which would make it almost a bolt-in since the 194, 230, 250 and 292 all share the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the V8. But you probably have a better chance of finding a pot of gold. They are very rare.
