Pcv question
My PCV valve is making a rattling sound it is like reverberating thru the valve cover. At first I thought it was valve or lifter noise but if I pull the PCV it stops, and if I just like lay it on the valve cover it will do it. It is pulling good vac and only about 6 months old? And only does it at low idle speeds.
Anyone ever experinse this?

Re: Pcv question
Yep, I bought one that was built into a chrome breather. Made horrible rattling noise. Went to a regular replacement pcv and no more noise.

I just told the napa guy I needed one for a smallblock chevy and he tossed me one. Seem pretty standard.

Re: Pcv question
Let me ask another question if it fits in the grommet and fits the hose will it work? The internal function is the same on all of them right?

Re: Pcv question
No, the internal spring is set for a specific application. Older designs probably are more interchangable, though.
The outside dimensions don't mean much.....I'd say 50% of the different valves have the same outside specs.

Re: Pcv question
HHmmmm I wonder about those billit and chrome ones that just say for a certian grommet size.
Anyway the reason I ask is I have 3 or 4 with a 90 degree elbow and they have a part number of 2117 and say made in the USA. I think they maybe deutsch but not sure, I dont know what they were made for not even sure why I have 3 or 4 of them wondering if I should use them or not. Hey 68speedalert see you are from washington I have been there once or twice for bowling tournaments many years ago.

Go ahead and try them. If you already have one that the truck runs fine with, experiment. It can greatly affect idle, so make sure you know how it runs before. Good ole Town & Country Bowling Lanes. I know the owner! Used to bowl in leagues years ago but I never did any tournaments. BTW, numberoneson (72afr) is schooling at Rolla again this fall, watch for his red shortstep at Louie's, will ya?
