For those with PLASMA cutters!
I've finally got the funds together to get a plasma cutter and was looking for some input on different brands that you guys that have and use. i.e. pros and cons of your machine.

Re: For those with PLASMA cutters!
I have the small 110 VAC Lincoln.
Works very well for body panels and thinner gage stuff up to 1/4" thick. Best money I have ever spent on tools for body work and frame mods, next to my welder & auto-darkening welding helmet that is. If you plan on doing any slicin' and dicin' of thicker materials, I would look at their larger 220 VAC models. |

Re: For those with PLASMA cutters!
I rock the HOBART 220V and I give the same reviews as above.. The plasma cutter is the best money spent.

Re: For those with PLASMA cutters!
I run the Hypertherm 380. It has been great for over three yr's now. Slices 3/8" plate no problem. But for me the best tool I have bought so far is my (press, break, shear & punch) 4500 Iron Worker Pro!

Re: For those with PLASMA cutters!
i was thinking of this Miller. Does anyone have this one? It claims that it will produce a quality 1/2" cut when stood off. is this correct?
does anyone use the stand off accessory? or the circle cutting attachments? and do they work well? |

Re: For those with PLASMA cutters!
I have a Millermatic 210 and the Hobart 625 plasma cutter (identical to the Miller 625) and love them more with every new project. Got them both on Ebay from the same place mentioned above. Indiana Oxygen Welding supplies=Exc. service and flawless shipping!

Re: For those with PLASMA cutters!
The cut-off wheel stops being fun once you get thicker than 14ga! (If it ever was fun to begin with!)
The plasma cutter will become your new best friend! I still smile every time I use mine. |

Re: For those with PLASMA cutters!
I use a torch since I can not afford a plasma cutter at home. I just can't justify needing it for home use.

Re: For those with PLASMA cutters!
We used to have a little esab plasma but we got rid of it because the consumables were crazy expensive. We got the Hypertherm 1000 because we do alot of heavy fab work. It will cut up to 1'' if we take our time but it absolutely destroies sheetmetal. So whatever you get make sure it is within the range of what youll be using it for most of the time. Presses and ironworkers are fun
