Alarm LED Light
Hey where did you guys place your LED light on your trucks to let thieves know your truck was armed? I want to place it so when they walk up on it they'll notice it before busting the glass out. I was thinking on the dash bezel but I wasn't sure that you would see it walking up on it from the side.
Any pics you have would be helpful - thanks Tom

Re: Alarm LED Light
Why not put one in each door panel, right next to the lock.

Re: Alarm LED Light
can you buy an extra? My kit came with only one, and who would carry it?

Re: Alarm LED Light
I'm sure radio shack has them, if not I've ordered from www.partsexpress.com before.

Re: Alarm LED Light
If you order on-line, you could also get them at superbrightleds or lsdiodes just to name a couple. The main advantage these have over the ones at Radio Shack is that they are brighter, have a better color selection and of better quality. Last time I check the local Radio Shack, they didn't have much of a selection, other than their typical 5mm red LEDs. Any electronic store in the Phoenix area should also carry LEDs. You may want to get a couple so that they both color match when blinking.
You may be able to connect an additional LED to the existing alarm circuit. Although, if the alarm circuit is designed to drive a single LED, you may notice that the two LEDs are not as bright as the single original one. But, it shouldn't be too noticeable. You need about 2-3.5 V and about 20 mA to drive an extra LED. Connecting the extra LED in parallel to the original one may yield better results then connecting them in series. Oh, BTW, make sure you have the LED connected in the correct polarity. The flat side of the LED (the shorter lead) is the cathode (negative).

Re: Alarm LED Light
I have the VIPER alarm kit on my 83 Silverado and have the LED in the dash in the middle of the speaker grill, I like the Blue LED that VIPER uses and mounted where it is it can be seen all around the truck.
