Cost of refurbishing rear cargo CST Chrome Strips
Can anyone tell me how much it costs to rechrome the 2 rear floor chrome carpet strips in the cargo area as well as the 2 strips that hold in the Blazer side panels in the CST Blazer?
thanks, |

Re: Cost of refurbishing rear cargo CST Chrome Strips
I don't know, however I have priced what a 71 GMC grill, top bar and eyebrow moldings would cost and it came out to $515.00 plus shipping (this included taking out dings and imperfections). When I priced the same aftermarket reproduction pieces shipped it came close to $600.00. My opinion is you will not save too much money getting things re-chromed, however the original parts fit right and are better quality overall than aftermarket stuff.

Not only is the fit better, but the rechroming done North America is far better than the 12 month S**t that is on aftermarket parts. Besides there are no parts available in this particular application in regards to repro stuff.

Yeah find a good chrome plater in your area and go down in person with the parts. Most platers do boring industrial stuff and will jump at the chance to let their skills shine - at least that has been my experience. Just don't be in a hurry for your parts

The only reason I would consider rechroming in this case is because there are no aftermarket replacements for these pieces. |

Re: Cost of refurbishing rear cargo CST Chrome Strips
The ones I have usually seen on the front carpet are stainless and are just a flat piece that folds down over the edge. The rear ones have the double layer to hold the rubber seal in place and they are chrome. I have seen this topic discussed several times over the years and I think it may have depended on the year of the truck. The cargo panel strips are always chrome as far as I have ever seen.

Re: Cost of refurbishing rear cargo CST Chrome Strips
I'll try the never dull by Eagle One and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion. My floor strips aren't terrible, and my rear one seems to be chrome, the front stainless. The pieces that hold in the cargo panels are not in the best of condition. Lots of surface rust. Does anyone know what part of these are visible to the passengers?

Does anyone know where I can find replacement screws to fasten the floor strips down?
