I have 383 stroker long block w/12 to 1 comp, brodix -8 heads, crane roller rockers, crower flat tappet #00351 INTAKE: Duration: 288º Lift: 0.525 EXHAUST: Duration: 292º Lift: 0.543, speed pro forged flat top pistons, forged I beam rods and nodular crank. The block is a 1peice seal. The assembly is fresh no run time.

Hi ..nice looking engine. How does it have 12-1 compression ratio with flat top pistons?

The heads are milled down to 58cc. The engine builder calculated the compression ratio.

anybody have estimates on what kind of HP and torque for this?

this probably won't work in a 89 suburban w/ TBI with the stock computer or would it??

Stock computer would need to be tuned to get the most out of the engine. Sometime in the late 80's GM tapped a hole in the water jacket of the blocks for a knock sensor. If this engine isn't tapped for a knock sensor (probably not) then you couldn't use one, and the computer would throw a code unless you had that system disabled. That sensor is part of the ignition control system.

Guys,

I'm in Houston and am looking to build a 383 for my '89 Suburban but wanted to use pump gas. Do I have any options here? Would it be worth getting this to reuse any of the parts? I assume if the heads are ground down, then I'm not going to be able to get 9.5:1 or so, right? Sorry for the dumb questions.

I guess what I should have said is 87 octane...

The short block has flat top pistons. Heads with 72-76cc would net you 87 octane friendly. I imagine you could buy the engine and sell the heads easy enuff to but a set with bigger chambers.
For a lower compression engine the cam would be a little on the big side. It is just right for 12-1.

Anyways, you couldn't build this engine for 2000.00

You definitly can't build this engine for 2 grand (trust me) and It will need racing gas. Shipping will probably be 300+ dollars.
