P/B Problem

Got my brake system back together, pressure bleed the brakes, my pedal is nice and firm. When I start the engine the pedal goes soft. When I pump the pedal the power booster seems to be leaking air out the rear where the rod from the pedal goes in. Also I notice the engine idle changes when I depress the pedal. Is my booster bad or could it be something else?

Re: P/B Problem

You guessed correctly, your booster is leaking. Napa has them for our trucks for about 130 bucks.

Agreed. Don't bother with used ones. it may be good today, but I'll bet a kick in the daddy parts it'll go bad fairly soon.
I lost an engine to a bad booster. A massive vaccume leak on an already lean motor pulling a hill at 4000 RPM = boom.
