Re: 350 Turbo Or 700r4 For 59 Apache
Do the 700R4 then, as long as you're not hotrodding it or using it as a severe work truck, it'll hold up fine with a standard rebuild...i/e nothing fancy/expensive needed.
Ofcourse the TH350 will hold up as well with a standard rebuild, and would be less expensive, but the OD you get with the 700R4 is nice. Another option is the 2004R, it has more of a gear ratio like a TH350, along with the OD like the 700R4 has. |

Re: 350 Turbo Or 700r4 For 59 Apache
The 700r is a great trans if you’re looking to make her to be a daily drive as long as you get one with all the latest updates. The TH350 is a stronger, more reliable trans according to a few trans shops I talked to. That's why I went with the 350TH for that reason. But, in saying that, everyone has their option of good and bad with both.

I would use the 700, the 200 is also a very popular trans

Re: 350 Turbo Or 700r4 For 59 Apache
I took a perfectly good T350 out of mine to replace it with a 700r4. I wanted the lower first gear and an OD to make my new Ramjet 350 happy out of the hole and on the highway too...

Re: 350 Turbo Or 700r4 For 59 Apache
Yeah, the 700r4 is a better highway driver due to the overdrive. But they are more than double to have rebuilt, ecspecially if you have to have all the upgrades done to one. The 350 turbo's are more reliable less to rebuild and hold up better to mor horsepower. Again just an opinion but I have a 350 in mine and have rebuilt both tranny's and I'd pick a 350 over a 700 anyday.

Jimbo, do you move a lot of parts for the TF trucks? I live in Del Rio now, but am from Carrollton and make a lot of trips home. I'm eventually going to need a driver's side door and front fender...

No, I Dont Do The Swap Meets. I Have Tried That In The Past And Its More Work Hauling The Stuff Out To Them Than I Want To Do. Thats Why I Just Post The Stuff On The Internet.
