Looking for ideas for a 79 Chevy
Hey I'm new here and i'm looking for some good ideas to really spice up my truck. It is a 79 Chevy K10 4X4 with a 5.7L V8. I have 3in straight dual exhaust so this puppy is loudd. The truck is in need of a new paint job and also I need to finish the interior (and i plan on taken off the plow). Currently I also plan on adding a 2.5'' suspension lift to the front and rear, and also putting on a set of 35'' mudders, (currently its got 33s.). If anyone has any suggestions as to what they might do with the truck or also any ideas of what might look good on the truck. I also need some opinions of rather or not to keep it the yellow or change the color.
EDIT: I failed to metion that I will also be adding a cowl induction hood. If anyone can point out some cheap but good hoods for me I'd appretiate it. thanks, david

Keep the yellow, add black bumpers and rims. 35's, 4" lift, shackle flip rear, tint the windows, diamond plate tool box, warn classic winch bumper w/ 8274..

Re: Looking for ideas for a 79 Chevy
well the trucks already has a 4'' body lift so the 2.5'' suspension lift will take it up 6 and a half inches from where it started. also with the tires i have going on there and the lift it already puts me over the 32'' street legal limit by 2-3''. However i plan on adding a hitch to the back that will drop down about 3-4'' so that it qualifies as part as my bumper and puts be back below 32''. I also do plan on tinting the windows out but Im gonna keep the bumpers and rims a classic chrome. thanks for the ideas though everyone.

Welcome to the board. I've got two 79's so I totally understand where you're coming from. I would first get the drivetrain etc. the way you want/need it. Then get the interior setup etc. Last I would do paint. The paint could get messed up if you work on something later on like a engine swap etc. I'm still working on mine and still needs paint LOL!!

Re: Looking for ideas for a 79 Chevy
Hey guys...
I wanted to rejuvenate this thread and solicite comments on my 79 as well. I am most interested in getting information/ideas regarding my Ramsey winch and bumper, because I want to attach a brush guard to the existing set-up. My grandfather had it installed not long after buying the truck, so information is scarce. As far as I can tell, it is very similar to the modern Ramsey RE8000, and the bumper extension looks like it was made for that particular winch. I am considering a local custom fab shop. I would also consider replacing the old mount in favor of completely new one.

Re: Looking for ideas for a 79 Chevy
I finally got around to replacing my broken and faded factory grille with a nice aluminum billet grille model #40071 from Carriage Works. $85 shipped to my door from the factory, and this thing fits like a glove!

Re: Looking for ideas for a 79 Chevy
I think the paint will make a huge difference. The lift and 35"s will also make for a great stance. The windows getting tinted is going to look alot better too. The best thing will be the plow coming off though. I would say go with the 35" BFGoodrich M/T's when u get bigger tires they are great.
