My secret project
Ok well... some of you have caught the hints I was dropping about something I was working on... and well.. it didnt turn out as well as I had planned... The thread recently that came up again about the making the gauges brighter made me go ahead with my project that I had planned for quite some time. I had done the chrome mod previously in my 82 and it seemed to help.. but I thought for sure my idea would out do it.. I attempted to use aluminum foil to line the reflective part that is normally blue. I suppose I need to take the entire cluster out and paint/foil behind all the gauges.. this maybe where my downfall is on both sets of gauges. I installed the painted chrome one.. then the foil one.. and there really wasnt much noticable difference to warrant the extra time... oh well..... live and learn.

Re: My secret project
Ok well, after typing the above post I was pretty disappointed.. but on the way home I decided something wasnt right.. sure enough in all the taking apart and putting painted "reflector" on, then taking apart and putting foil "reflector" on I suppose the light knob got turned.... so it wasnt at its brightest. I am a little more impressed now, however my camera isnt as good as the pics from the 73-87.com write up. Here are my crappy pics..

Re: My secret project
Jon- Since you like playing with this, here's an idea. Cut mirrored plexiglas and use it as a background behind the gauges. You can't get any more reflective than a mirror.
I used that truck on a light box for a show car sign and it made a huge difference....
