universal joints

well today I was driving home and about a few blocks from home when taking off from stop lights i was hearing a clunk clunk CLUNK then noting as soon as i hit 5 kph.

This is what I found after looking under the truck

ahhhh yes. the wonderful teardrop carrier bearing. yes, they break alot (at least i hear about them on the board). my trucks have the horseshoe design bearings and i have had no problems. i don't know if they can be retrofitted. otherwise i would run a one piece shaft.

wow, I've had the rubber sling apart from age, but I've never encoutered that problem. I'd be suspicious of the possibility of another problem either in the driveline or in the quality of the part. I just bought one from O'Rielly's and it looks a bit beefy-er than that one.

the one i got from oriellys about a yaer ago broke after 6 months i got one from adavance auto to replace it and its still tight and trouble free
