Re: rear u bolts where to get them?

You may order them or you may go to you local spring shop and have them make you some. What size rim you runnig cuz i belive not sure though that 2" is the limit with 15" wheels and 3" with 16" wheels just incase you get a flat you will drag the ubolts possibly spining out of control, and not roll on the wheel.IMO. Theres a write up in the FAQ section on exactly what it is you need.

Re: rear u bolts where to get them?

Check out THIS thread in the FAQ. Apparently his local shop knew exactly what to do. I would suggest taking in an old Ubolt if possible just to be safe.

So tell me Cdowns, how would you go about measuring something like the Ubolt? Im being serious, I have a tape measure but that would seem to be clumsy and not very accurate. I'm still very much a neophyte in the garage and need all the info i can get.

Re: rear u bolts where to get them?

you measure how much longer you need them ... pretty simple actually ... the radius is not going to change, only the length of the legs.

Re: rear u bolts where to get them?

using a caliper or compass with a tape measure you measure the diameter of the rod the diameter of your rear axel tube and length of ubolt // if you know the length already for 3"blocks i'd go about 31/2 inches longer to allow for pinion angle shim you can always cut off the little bit extra

the caliper and compass are great tools to aid in measuring inexpensive and last a long time these were my grandfaters and still get lots of use at close to a hundred years old

If yours are messed up beyond recognition, tell the spring guy you need a pair of 5/8 thread, 24 inch long U-bolts for a 3 inch axle tube. He'll know what to do.

My shop charged me $21.80 for a pair of them
Hope it helps.

Re: rear u bolts where to get them?

you are getting close to your "scrub line" of potential chassis parts hanging below the wheel with a 3.00" block ... if a tire goes flat, you are in for a hairy ride ... be very careful using 3.00" blocks ...
