I have 4" front leafs with 3" heavy duty lift shackles and I'm considering fabricating a bump stop on the drivers side to limit how far back the shackle can rotate. Cant afford to do the crossover steering just yet and occasionally when I really twist her the tire tags the body. Anyone have any input about this idea? Thanks,

why not just make the factory bump stop locations work for you

It doesnt have any. I've seen what I think is a factory spring shackle bump stop on a friends rig, but with the lift shackles I have...time to fab.

FYI ~
The factory stop is actually an add-on or a fix/re-call from GM.
In 1969 the K5/Blazer had a problem with the front driver's side eyebolt breaking, the driver then loosing control of the truck.

Look at the front of the driver's side springpack/eyebolt. See that metal strap or plate on the front of the spring mount? Gm added that strap and the shakle stop on the frame to help the driver maintain control of the truck incase the 'bigger bolt' broke also....

Years ago I saw the actual re-call letter from GM on the internet...wish I had saveed a *.jpg of it... anyone here remember blazer-net.com? that is were I read the re-call....

Want super cheap and super easy?

Use a chain.
Yep a chain from the bottom of the shackle to the frame works perfect for stopping unwanted rotation.
Weld a washer to one end link and a bolt to the other.

I did it (opposite reasons from you) to stop my axle from dropping away to far and pulling my front shaft apart at the slip joint.

IT WORKS!!

i was talking about using the factory rubber bump stop spaced down correctly that it works.
