Engine Compartment
Hey everyone!
I'm at the point of doing the engine compartment on my truck, I'm kinda torn between full on w/ billet etc... or just a nice clean stock look or a combination of both. I would like some pics of your engine compartments, I'm sure you guys would like to show them off since they take sooo much time to get right. Thanks everyone!!! Brian ![]()

Re: Engine Compartment
This is far from being perfect and it is driven pretty much. Very hard area to keep clean from dust and water spots.

Re: Engine Compartment
I am at the same point of decisions. As far as paint and colors, I believe all of the stock trucks had black inner fender wells and black core support. The body color was on the firewall and the outer fender where itcame into the engine compartment. My question is, were the insides of the stock hoods body color or black?????

Re: Engine Compartment
I like the body color on things and love the billet and chrome on the motor. The hood hinges are the only thing I did in black so they would disappear.

Re: Engine Compartment
I just seen the worst engine compartmenet ever. I went to look at a LongHorn this morning, it is a blue and white 2 tone. He painted the engine compartment that way as well. It was nasty looking. He had the fender wells white and the firewall and core support blue.
DID I MENTION IT WAS NASTY LOOKING ![]() |

Re: Engine Compartment
Here are a couple that aren’t mine, but I like the looks of. Not totally stock, but not customized either.

Re: Engine Compartment
If it is original than the color on top of the hood should be the same as the bottom, although the radiator support and inner fenders were black stock.

Re: Engine Compartment
Sorry about the dark pictures. I just ran out and took these in the shop.
I treated the inside of the hood like it was the outside finish wise. First I stripped it. Then I sprayed it with PPG Epoxy (DP40LF). Then I masked off the structure parts and sprayed some DuPont single stage black I had laying around. I bought it in 1986 and it still sprayed and layed fine. It is in a quart marked "99A Pitch Black". Then I masked the black off and sprayed my body color on the support structure. It is medium metallic green. The colors look funny in the dark but I'm really happy with how it looks.
