1972 Chevy pickup question
Hi,
I have a 1972 chevy pick up...love the truck..it is used as a farm truck....sometimes I don't use it for months at a time...last week it ran fine, now it will not go into drive...it goes in reverse fine, but when I drop it down to drive it just sits there like I have it in netural...I am hoping it is not the transmission...I checked the transmission fluid, it is fine...any possibilities as to what it is????? Re: 1972 Chevy pickup question
It is possible one of the valves in the trans is sticking. I have had luck with Sea-Foam trans additive. It is available here at Federated Auto Parts. Just add it to your trans and start the truck. Let it run for a bit and then try it. If need be, try moving it in reverse some and see if it doesnt break free. May or may not work, but worth the $7.00 to try. Good Luck!!

Re: 1972 Chevy pickup question
I agree with centless. If it was fine when parked most likelly it has the gear selector valve might be sticking. Like mentioned before try some kind of additive. Marvel mystery oil is another good one to try.
