Re: 16.5 Tires Pros/Cons
Check to make sure your favorite tire is available in the 16.5 size, one of the draw backs is the size runs can be limited.
Another thing is the bead shape, they lack any kind of real lip. Low tire pressure will result in loosing the bead. I run em and like em. |

Re: 16.5 Tires Pros/Cons
All 16.5's will have the same shape bead, alloy or steel, doesn't matter.
Why they did that...? No idea. I'm running them on my off road blazer because of the 1 ton disc brake set up, even @ 16.5" they barely clear the calipers. I'm running internal bead locks too. Need em when I drop down to 4psi. Those wheels your talking about are bad a$$. Last edited by vtblazer; 11-06-2006 at 09:34 PM. |

Re: 16.5 Tires Pros/Cons
I just bought Centerline Bullet 16.5x10 Chrome for my Jimmy in 8 lug. Centerline clearanced them from $419 each to $139 each with centers. What persuaded me to go that route, was Tyres International selling Goodyear Wrangler RT II in 36 12.5 16.5 for $449 a set... DELIVERED! I bought 5 rims and 5 tires for $1350 delivered to my door. Mounted and balanced them myself (Handy having a tire changerand balancer in the garage)
Here's the link to the tire deal, click on the Goodyear Wrangler on the right: http://www.tyres1.com/browse/browseT.html

Re: 16.5 Tires Pros/Cons
16.5 are kinda hard to come by according to discount tire. They were the best you could do for a long time, but now 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24, 26" wheels are readily available. The tires mentioned above are sweet and inexpensive so if you want to run em buy em, just know that there may or may not be trouble getting them in the near future.
